The shoot for Pirates, the debut feature by Myriam Gharbi, will begin on 26 May. Standing out in the cast are rapper Ossem, Hugo Becker (notably appreciated in Ride Above [+leggi anche:

Written by the director in collaboration with Jamal Belmahi (awarded at the Red Sea Festival in 2023 for the script for Six Feet Over [+leggi anche:

scheda film]), the script centres on twenty-something Loubna, rejected by her family when she is released from jail. Consumed by rage and destitute, she sees no way out. But everything changes when she witnesses a demonstration by two activists, Ben and Z, aimed at helping those in need. Intrigued and fascinated by their energy, she decides to follow them. A dive into the unknown that will change her life and challenge her certainties…
Pirates is being produced by Nicolas Leprêtre for Georges Films and co-produced by Acrobate Films. Supported by the CNC (via the advance on receipts and the Fonds Images de la diversité) and the South region, the feature will benefit from 26 shooting days with Dominique Colin as director of photography. Distribution in French cinemas will be handled by Épicentre Films.

scheda film] by duo Rana Kazkaz - Anas Khalaf (Toronto Industry Selects in 2020), will also begin on 30 Avril in Jordan the shooting of The Station, the debut feature by Yemeni filmmaker Sara Ishaq, a film supported by Eurimages and produced with Jordan (Screen Project), Germany (One Two Films), and the Netherlands (Kepler Film) and Norway (Barentsfilm). Written by the filmmaker together with Nadia Eliewat, this film, which went through the Atelier of the Cinéfondation and the Venice FF Gap Financing Market amongst others, benefits from the support of the CNC’s Aide aux Cinémas du monde, the Netherlands Film Fund and Hubert Bals Fund, the Doha Film Institute and the Sørfond Production Fund.
