The Yellow Affair is set to present a total of 11 titles at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival's Marché du Film (13-21 May), showcasing debut feature films, local box office hits, and upcoming stories from Nordic countries.

Leading The Yellow Affair’s line-up is Wolves, the debut fiction feature written and directed by Swiss filmmaker Jonas Ulrich. In post-production and set for delivery in Q3 2025, the film earned a Special Mention at Tallinn Black Nights Works in Progress and was part of the cocoWIP selection. Set in Europe’s underground metal scene, it follows Luana, a 23-year-old daycare worker who impulsively joins her cousin’s black-metal band on tour. Another highlight is Miki, a Slovak crime thriller directed by Jakub Kroner and written by Miro Šifra. Already a domestic box-office sensation—released as two features, Miki and Černák—the two films topped the Slovak box office (see the news). The story follows a former bus driver who returns home to find a country ripe with opportunity and danger. As he embraces his darker instincts, he builds one of Slovakia’s most feared mafia empires. Starring Milan Ondrík, the film is also available as a 4x50 mini-series and recently won the Audience Award at the 2025 Sun in a Net Awards, Slovakia’s national film and television awards (see the news).

Pixie, the latest family adventure from Polish writer-director Krzysztof Komander, follows 11-year-old Hania, who clings to the magical world she once shared with her late mother. Mocked for her belief in pixies, she teams up with a fellow outsider and discovers a real forest-dwelling pixie named Sindri. The cast includes Amelia Golda, Maksymilian Zieliński, and Arkadiusz Jakubik, and the film is currently in post-production, produced by Poland’s Green Rat Production and the Czech Republic’s Heaven's Gate.

The sales agent will also introduce two upcoming titles currently in production. The Swedish romantic comedy The Greenest Grass, directed by Kim Sundbeck, follows Sasja, who, after cheating on his partner Olivia, devises a misguided plan to ease his guilt by encouraging her to be unfaithful as well, only to find that emotional equilibrium is harder to achieve than expected. Meanwhile, the Norwegian drama Fighter, helmed by Irasj Asanti, dives into the world of Oslo’s underground MMA scene, where a young woman defies her family’s expectations and societal norms, risking everything for her passion and a forbidden love. Both films are slated for delivery in Q1 2026.

Among the completed titles featured at the market are two Berlinale titles: Perspectives entry Punching the World [+leggi anche:

, a tense emotional thriller by veteran Finnish director Pirjo Honkasalo, and the documentary Ellis Park, directed by Justin Kurzel, offers an intimate look at legendary musician Warren Ellis.

Rounding out the slate are Long Good Thursday, the latest romantic comedy from Finnish director Mika Kaurismäki, which follows a grumpy widower whose encounter with the free-spirited Saimi reignites long-lost feelings, and Jonas Risvig’s Kontra, a Danish coming-of-age drama centred on Fanny, a high school newcomer who forms an intense friendship with the confident outsider Lilja.
