The eighth edition of European Work in Progress (EWIP) is set to celebrate a major milestone as it relocates to Hamburg and raises its total award value to an unprecedented €120,000 – a €55,000 increase on last year. The growth reflects a dynamic mix of new and returning industry partners, reinforcing EWIP’s position as a key launchpad for ambitious European film projects nearing completion.

EWIP will take place from 29 September-1 October, in collaboration with Filmfest Hamburg and the MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein. Continuing its mission to connect standout European works in progress with sales agents, distributors, festival programmers and other decision makers, EWIP will once again showcase up to 30 selected fiction, documentary and animation titles.

Among this year’s most notable additions is Northern Stars – Hamburg Film Partners, a new alliance of Hamburg-based companies that will sponsor EWIP for the first time. Their joint contribution amounts to €42,500 in in-kind services, with €10,000 worth of service vouchers each from audio studio Loft Tonstudios, audio specialist Zeigermann_Audio, event technicians CineGate and colour-grading experts Optical Art. An additional €2,500 prize from costume-rental company Zeitkostüm GmbH will also be handed out.

“Our strong Northern Stars alliance is very happy to have found EWIP as an ideal platform and valuable partner,” stated Volker Zeigermann. “Our common goal is to secure Hamburg’s place as a top-notch destination for filmmaking and to offer a reliable haven for producers to realise ambitious film projects. In accordance with our motto ‘we listen with care’, we aim to listen precisely to find the best audio solution for every film project.”

Also joining EWIP’s sponsor roster for the first time are post-production company The Post Republic and VFX specialists D-Facto Motion. The former will offer a €30,000 voucher for services, including post-production, colour grading and DCP creation, while D-Facto Motion will contribute two awards: €10,000 for video and sound post-production, and €5,000 for creating a barrier-free version.

Returning sponsor K13 Studios will once again provide €15,000 worth of services, with €10,000 allocated for a Dolby Atmos mix and €5,000 for professional dubbing. Meanwhile, long-standing partners such as film marketing agency Gruvi and translation company WayFilm will each contribute €5,000 in services. Press agency mm filmpresse will increase its support to €7,500.
