Calle Málaga, the new film by Maryam Touzani, begins its international journey with a double selection: the Spanish-Moroccan filmmaker's third feature film will be presented in the Venice Spotlight section at the 82nd Venice Film Festival and in the Special Presentations section at the Toronto Film Festival.

scheda film]). The film tells the story of María Ángeles (played by Carmen Maura), a 79-year-old Spanish woman living alone in Tangier, where she enjoys her city. However, her existence takes an unexpected turn when her daughter Clara (played by Marta Etura) arrives from Madrid with the intention of selling the apartment where she has always lived. Determined to remain in the city where she grew up, María Ángeles will do everything in her power to keep her home intact and recover the belongings that have shaped her life. Along the way, against all odds, she rediscovers love and desire—feelings she believed long forgotten.

Calle Málaga is a co-production between Morocco (through the company Ali n' Productions, led by Nabil Ayouch), France (Amine Benjelloun and Jean-Rémi Ducourtioux for Les Films du Nouveau Monde), Spain (Simón de Santiago and Fernando Bovaira for Mod Producciones), Germany (Fred Burle and Sol Bondy for One Two Films) and Belgium (Sebastian Schelenz for Velvet Films). It features the participation of RTVE and Movistar Plus+, and has received funding from the ICAA. Its international sales are managed by the Germany-based agency Films Boutique, and Caramel Films will release the film in Spanish cinemas in early 2026.
