The third South International Series Festival will take place in Cádiz from 12 to 17 September, opening with the world premiere of the spy thriller El Centro (read more), within its official fiction section. The line-up also includes the Spanish series Sense filters, which explores the challenges of growing up in a hyperconnected world; Ella maldita alma, inspired by a novel by Manuel Rivas and starring his son Martiño Rivas alongside Maxi Iglesias; Nails, which tells the story of four women from different social backgrounds and ages who meet in a nail salon, created by Araceli Álvarez de Sotomayor and starring Gracia Olayo, Teresa Cuesta, Marimar Vega, and Fernando Tejero; and Romi, directed by Inés París and created by Iker Azkoitia, which combines procedural and intrigue around a private detective with a hearing impairment, played by María Cerezuela, Elena Irureta, Edurne Azkárate, Natalia Millán, and Asier Etxeandía.

This section is rounded off with the Canadian thriller Corbeaux and the German production Nibelungos: La guerra de los reinos, which alternates between history, mythology, romance, magic and action; the Mexican series Futuro desierto by Lucía Puenzo; and the British series Little Disasters, a drama exploring the limits of friendship and motherhood, starring Diane Kruger; Atomic, an adventure and action comedy; and the queer-themed What It Feels Like for a Girl.

The official non-fiction section will include the French production TikTok, un réseau sous influence (TikTok, The War of Data), which examines the geopolitical implications of the platform, directed by Vincent de Cointet; the British series Making Mason, which offers an unfiltered look at the most famous murderer in United States history; and the Norwegian series The Agent. The Life and Lies of My Father, created and directed by Magnus Skatvold, which uncovers a story of espionage, propaganda and the cost of a life built on lies. Also screening are the Spanish series La Húngara: Toma que toma, the world premiere of the docuseries reviewing the life and career of this pioneer of flamenco fusion, with special appearances by C. Tangana and Antonio Carmona, among others; as well as the world premieres of Una historia muy heavy, which charts the birth of heavy metal in Spain through the bands Barón Rojo and Obús; and Vulnerables, about young people and mental health.

Among the series previews, the following stand out: Bajañí. El viaje de un guitarra, which will be presented by its director Fernando Trueba and its star Niño Josele; Toma, Moreno, an autobiographical docuseries about ventriloquist José Luis Moreno; Las 3.000 celebran la vida, set in a Seville neighbourhood considered one of the poorest and most dangerous in the country; and Los Chorys, portraying real-life figures who transformed Marbella's nightlife in the last century, acting as influencers ahead of their time.

Finally, the Spotlight South section will feature the second season of Crimen y ley, a documentary series about law enforcement and the judicial system, and the French non-fiction film Bardot [+leggi anche:
