The Abycine - Albacete International Film Festival will hold its 27th edition from 21-30 October. The opening of the event will take place on Thursday 23rd with a gala at which actor Inma Cuesta, actor-director Marta Nieto, and Basque filmmakers Jon Garaño, Aitor Arregi and Jose Mari Goenaga (known collectively as Moriarti, and who have just unveiled Maspalomas [+leggi anche:

In the Enfoques section, screenings will include A nadie le importas by Cristina Galán and David Suárez; En silencio, a documentary by actor Sara Sálamo; Subsuelo by editor-director Fernando Franco; and the documentary Warhol-Vijande: más que pistolas, cuchillos y cruces, the debut by Sebastián Galán, revisiting the titular pop artist’s trip to Madrid in the 1980s and featuring singer Alaska.

Lastly, this year, the Abycine Lanza industry arm celebrates its tenth anniversary with a packed programme of activities. Meanwhile, short films take up a large share of the schedule and the competition (to be judged by filmmakers Manuela Burló, Víctor Moreno and Alejandra Frechero). To close the festival, the first three episodes of Rafaela y su loco mundo will be presented - this outrageous series directed by Ernesto Sevilla (Camera café, la película [+leggi anche:

scheda film]) is toplined by Aníbal Gómez, Ingrid García-Jonsson, Arturo Valls and Carlos Areces (see the news). It should prove a fittingly grand – and hilarious – finale for a festival that firmly throws its weight behind creative independence and modernity.
