Spanish non-fiction talent will enjoy prominent visibility at IDFA – International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam, running from 13-23 November, with five projects taking part in the Spanish Showcase, a programme jointly promoted by ICEX Spain Trade & Investment and the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA).
The selected titles are Dead Time(s) (Dead Time(s). Los tiempos muertos) by Pol Picas (Glía Films), The Shortest Border in the World (La frontera más corta del mundo) by Román Cadafalch (Escarlata Estudio), The Measure of Love (La medida del amor) by Mauricio Cuffaro (Aquí y Allá Films), Fog (Niebla) by Alejandro Pérez Serrano (Malvalanda), and The Dutchbat by Guillermo Roqués, Javier Marín and Rafa Honrubia (15L Films). The producers and directors representing the projects are, respectively, Pol Picas, Ana Lombardía, Pedro Hernández Santos, Alejandro Pérez Serrano and Carlota Coloma.
Each project will benefit from a presentation slot, tailored consultancy, networking opportunities and financial support to attend the festival, within the framework of IDFA Forum and Docs for Sale, two European hubs for documentary co-production and distribution. Through their participation, ICEX and ICAA strengthen their commitment to the internationalisation of Spanish cinema and to showcasing national creative talent abroad.
The programme also features a strand dedicated to emerging producers, allowing three new Spanish projects to take part in the festival’s industry activities: Like Manolete on the Eve of his Death (Como Manolete en la víspera de su muerte) by Álvaro Gómez-Pidal (Inaudita), Dreaming of Momo (Soñar con Momo) by Carlos Hagerman (Sultana Films) and When We Were Young and Kidnappers (Cuando fuimos jóvenes y secuestradoras) by Marta Gómez and Paula Iglesias (Al Borde Films Coop).
In addition to the Spanish Showcase, the festival will screen 14 Spanish or Spanish-coproduced titles in its official selection, including Good Valley Stories [+leggi anche:
