Headed up by Nicolas Eschbach, French international sales agent Indie Sales is currently steering a path to the European Film Market (running 12 - 18 February) - unfolding within the 76th Berlinale - with a decidedly European asset in its line-up: Iván & Hadoum by Ian de la Rosa (read our article). A production involving Germany, Spain and Belgium, this debut feature film by the director who was nominated for 2022’s Best Short Goya via Farrucas is set to world-premiere in the Panorama section.

Starring Silver Chicón and Herminia Loh in lead roles, Iván & Hadoum (whose script was penned by the director and Diego Vega Vidal) takes us to an industrial greenhouse in southern Spain where Iván falls in love with a new colleague called Hadoum. But a long-awaited promotion interferes with their relationship, forcing Iván to decide what kind of person he wants to be… Production was steered by Spanish company Avalon alongside fellow Spaniards Pecado Films and Vayolet Films, in co-production with Germany’s Port-au-Prince Films and Belgium’s Saga Film.

Indie Sales are also hoping to close a few deals at the market, notably on All About Corinne by Marc Fitoussi (article – an Avenue B production starring Isabelle Huppert, Sandrine Kiberlain, Anne Marivin, Ana Girardot and Diane Kruger, among other names), which will be pre-sold on a promo reel basis, as will another title in post-production, Gabriel Osorio Vargas’ Chilean animated film Brave Cat (awarded the Oscar for Best Animated Short in 2016).

Equally noteworthy are two invitation-only market screenings of Rachel Lang’s spy thriller Mata (article - starring Eye Haïdara, Raphaël Personnaz and Joséphine Japy, among others), which will be released in French cinemas on 22 April by Warner Bros.
