Written by Albert Dupontel (César Award winner in 2021 and 2014 for Best Original Screenplay and winner in 2018 in the Adapted Screenplay category), the screenplay delves into the world of a family of undertakers. Two sisters and a brother reunite for their mother's funeral. With the staff on strike, they must carry out the funeral proceedings themselves. How can they agree on how to cremate their mother?
Il faut brûler maman is produced by Catherine Bozorgan for ADCB Films, and co-produced by France 2 Cinéma and Pathé (who will distribute the film in French cinemas on 11 November and is overseeing international sales). Pre-bought by Canal+, Paramount+ and France Télévisions, the feature film also received support from the Île-de-France region and Sofica Sofitvciné, Cofimage and La Banque Postale Image.
