Drawn Together and Drawn Apart, two movies based on the successful Enfrentados saga, written by Seville-based Argentinian author Mercedes Ron, and shot last year in New York and Madrid, will soon be aired in more than 240 countries via Prime Video. The films have been directed by Óscar Pedraza (behind some of the episodes of series such as Patria and Sky Rojo), with production duties handled by Álex de la Iglesia and Carolina Bang (via their company, Pokeepsie Films).

Both features are toplined by Ester Expósito (whose latest film appearances were in The Wailing and The Talent) and Hugo Diego García (a French-Spanish actor seen in titles of the likes of The Substance and Vache Folle, which he also co-directed), flanked by Eric Masip (Un novio para mi mujer), Pablo Molinero (who recently made an appearance in features such as The Story of Us and Pet Peeves), Zoe Bonafonte (The 47, El secreto del orfebre) and Lluís Homar (winner of a Goya Award for Eva), among others.

The storyline, with a screenplay penned by Sofía Cuenca, introduces us to Marfil Cortés (played by Expósito), the daughter of a powerful Spanish entrepreneur, whose perfect life in New York is turned upside down when she is abruptly kidnapped and released without any apparent explanation. Her father then decides to hire the enigmatic Sebastián Moore (played by Diego García) to be her bodyguard. Forced to spend every minute together, and despite the initial clash between her indomitable spirit and his reserved character, they will inevitably become attracted to one another. When they return to Spain, as the threats ramp up, they will have to navigate a world where nobody is who they claim to be and nothing is what it seems.

“We were so stoked to shoot Enfrentados; it’s a genre we love, and with it, we hope we can connect with the audience again as strongly as we did previously with the Guilty adaptations,” state the producers from Pokeepsie Films (Banijay Iberia).

Drawn Together and Drawn Apart represent the next level of the collaboration between Prime Video and Mercedes Ron, following the adaptations of her Guilty and Tell Me sagas (My Fault became the most successful non-English-language film on Prime Video in 2023, and a year later, Your Fault set a new record when it became the most-seen non-English-language original in the platform’s history).
