The industry awards of this year’s CPH:DOX were revealed at a ceremony on Thursday evening, held at the Kunsthal Charlottenborg festival hub.

Two Eurimages New Lab-supported projects emerged as the biggest winners. The Moroccan-French co-production Don't Let the Sun Go Up on Me by Asmae El Moudir received the Eurimages New Lab Outreach Award of €30,000, “for the audacity to shine a light on the bright colours of darkness and reveal a hidden story through a daring, innovative and singular artistic vision”, while the French project Cosmofonia by Véréna Paravel won the Eurimages New Lab Innovation Award of €20,000, as a “project that opens new worlds of previously unheard sounds and unseen images, and that pushes the art of cinema beyond the realm of human perception”.

In CPH:FORUM, the Sandbox Films Science Pitch Prize, highlighting an outstanding science documentary project for its innovation in the genre, artistic merit and commitment to inclusivity, was awarded to Matrescence by Kathryn Ferguson, as it “sheds light on an urgent, underexplored world of science that affects everyone, and we found it had an astonishing blend of artistic merit and scientific inquiry”, as per the jury. The $25,000 cash award comes with additional support from Sandbox Films.

The Al Jazeera Documentary Channel Co-Production Award, worth €15,000 and aimed at projects tackling urgent global issues, went to Everything Is Red and Grey by Shourideh C Molavi and Shrouq Alaila. The project also received one of the two ARTE Awards, alongside We Are Volcanoes by Sharon Yeung and Natalie Chao.

The Jacob Burns Film Center Award, which includes a residency and post-production support, was handed to The Calling by Beniamino Barrese. Meanwhile, the Rise and Shine Award, recognising a project with strong international potential and no sales agent attached, went to My Father the Iceman by Łukasz Kowalski. The Unifrance & Titrafilm Doc Award, totalling €5,500 in benefits for the best French production or co-production, was awarded to Children of the Moon Land by Roman Ďuriš.

In the immersive section, the Onassis ONX Award went to Still Point, Turning World by Ben Joseph Andrews, while Mourning Glory by Mathius Scibor picked up both the NewImages Festival Award and the DOK Leipzig Award.

Finally, the Millennium Docs Against Gravity Award, dedicated to projects from the CHANGE strand, was given to the Ukrainian project My School Is Seized by Halyna Lavrinets.
