Nine projects have been selected in the CNC’s second advance on receipts session for 2026. Standing tall among the three titles chosen by the first committee (for fourth features and beyond) is the animated project Le ghetto interieur by Santiago Amigorena (who was notably selected out of competition in Venice 2006 thanks to A Few Days in September and in the 2011 Giornate degli Autori line-up via Another Silence) and Nicolas Pawlowski, which is an adaptation of the former’s eponymous novel. The screenplay (penned by Santiago Amigorena and Marion Quantin) sees Victoire speaking to her granddaughter, in the present day, about the fate of her father, Vicente. A Polish Jew, he emigrates to Buenos Aires in 1928 and seems to have everything he needs to be happy. But as the news from his mother, who stayed behind in Warsaw, grows ever more alarming, he experiences his loved ones’ suffering from afar. Shutting himself away in a prison of silence, Vicente carries on living but finds he can no longer truly exist. Until the Allies’ victory and the love of his family allow him to emerge from his inner ghetto… Production will be handled by 2.4.7 Films with Je Suis Bien Content and Meltem Films in co-production. Luc Desportes will head up animation.

Likewise granted an advance on receipts is Traverser l’orage by Raphaël Jacoulot (which will be the fifth feature film by the director, who was acclaimed for Barrage and Heatwave, among other works). Co-written by Sophie Hiet and Marlène Poste, the film is set to be produced by TS Productions.

A second project overseen by TS Productions was also selected by the 3rd committee: the documentary Le temple by Claudine Bories and Patrice Chagnard (notably known for Les règles du jeu and Vedette, presented in Cannes’ ACID line-up in 2014 and 2021).

The second committee (for second and third features) selected Sonny et ses frères, which is the third feature project by Jean-Bernard Marlin (who co-wrote the screenplay with Valentine Monteil) after Shéhérazade (a 2018 Cannes Critics’ Week discovery and winner of the 2019 César awards for Best First Film and Most Promising Actress and Actor) and Salem (screened in Cannes’ Un Certain Regard section in 2023). Production will be handled by Curiosa and Vatos Locos Productions. An advance will also go to Sainte Madeleine, which will be Belgian filmmaker Bérangère McNeese’s second feature after The Girls From Above (which turned heads last year). Co-written by Laurette Polmanss, the film will be produced by Kazak Productions.

Lastly, the four lucky recipients of the first committee’s support (for debut feature films) are Kathy déménage by Marie Vernalde (triumphant in Arras Days – read our article – and produced by Folle Allure), Furtunatu by Yannick Casanova (produced by Les Films du Bal), Viendra le jour by Nicolas Panay (produced by Les Films Norfolk) and Comme une grande by Adriana Da Fonseca (co-written by Sarah Schenkel and produced by Belleville Production).
