Following its special events in Cannes (see the news), Wild Filmmaker continues to strengthen its international reputation as a growing platform dedicated to the promotion of independent cinema. Now in its sixth year of activity, the initiative has built a broad global community of artists, bringing together thousands of filmmakers, screenwriters, producers and creative professionals from around the world.
For Wild Filmmaker founder Michele Diomà, this new phase represents an important step in the platform’s ongoing mission: to place the creativity of filmmakers back at the centre of the cinematic conversation.
Wild Filmmaker’s 2026 calendar is expected to include a wide range of international activities, with co-production meetings and special events planned in major locations for the industry, such as Venice, New York City, Toronto and the American Film Market in Los Angeles, among others.
The platform’s ambition is to support a form of cinema that, up until only a few years ago, often had limited opportunities for visibility. Through its growing network and international initiatives, Wild Filmmaker aims to help independent artists gain greater recognition at a time when the audiovisual industry is undergoing significant transformation.
Since its founding, Wild Filmmaker has focused its events on supporting stylistic innovation, artistic freedom and the visibility of independent voices. This approach continues to shape the future of the platform, whose mission is rooted in the belief that access to cinema and creative expression should be more open, inclusive and democratic.
Being part of Wild Filmmaker today means joining an expanding international movement of independent filmmakers and artists who share a commitment to creative freedom, experimentation and new forms of cinematic expression. Among the directors and screenwriters recently awarded during Wild Filmmaker events are, in alphabetical order of their first names: Andrea Natale, Angelena Bonet, Carla Di Bonito, Casey Williams, Charli Brown, Christopher Pennington, Daniel Arreola, Danilo Del Tufo, David Williamson, Dianne Lang, Dr Dawn Menge, Earnest Diaz, Fabia Maria Cerra, Faye Fayerman, Gabriel Womack, Gleison Castro, Graciela Cassel, Hugo Teugels, Ian Williams, Ioannis Koutroubis, L Scooter Morris, Jacek Krawczyk, Janja Rakuš, Jordan Destin, Laura Calderini, Lena Mattsson, Lynn Elliott, Mark Hammond, Ömer Yıldırım, Paolo Pier Luigi Guglielmetti, Patricia Planck, R Scott MacLeay, Sean Gregory Tansey, Sofia Mavrou, Suzanne Lutas, Timothy A McGhee, Vicentini Gomez and Vincenzo Amoruso.
