Nordisk Panorama, the meeting place for Nordic documentary directors and producers, has announced the selection for its upcoming edition, set to run from 18-22 September in Malmö.

Out of 52 projects selected from some 130 submissions, 46 will be presented in the Forum and Observer+ sections, and six in Works in Progress.

The line-up includes established filmmakers such as Into Eternity director Michael Madsen with his new project The Ark, Life and Other Problems director Max Kestner with Living in the Shadow of the World We Could Have, and The Dialogue Police director Susanna Edwards with a confidential project. An established collaboration is also returning with Phie Ambo and Rikke Tambo Andersen once again working together on a climate story, Caretaker, following the success of Fire, Water, Earth, Air. Maryam Ebrahami, director of CPH:DOX prizewinner Phantom Pains of Rojava, is bringing the project A Cloud in Trousers, produced by the 2023 winner of the Nordic Documentary Producer Award Stina Gardell, while the 2025 winner of the same prize, Hanna Björk Valsdóttir, presents two projects: Frederik Brun Madsen's King Diamond and Jessica Auer's The Heath.

The Act of Killing producer Signe Byrge Sørensen is teaming up with A Silent Story director Anders Skovbjerg Jepsen for Tunner Visions, while the producer of The Remarkable Life of Ibelin, Ingvil Giske, is behind one of the wildcard projects, Mats Muri's Monday All Year.

The selection also features emerging talents such as Faroese filmmaker Maria Tórgarð with Knots, which won the 2025 Nordic Talents Pitch Prize, as well as Ömer Sami, director of the 2023 Oscar-shortlisted short film Eternal Father, who comes to the Work in Progress presentations with his new project True Scott, produced by Flee and A House Full of Splinters producer Monica Hellström.

"The projects show a range of experience from the deeply personal to the profoundly global while looking at their subjects through a critical lens and with a commitment to democratic discourse," says Forum Manager Lena Nitsch.

"Intimate human stories and investigative filmmaking are presented side by side, revealing the art of documentary filmmaking not only as a means of witnessing our own societies but also as a way of engaging with the complexities of an interconnected world beyond the Nordic region."
