MIA – Mercato Internazionale Audiovisivo has unveiled the first guests for its 12th edition, which will unspool in Rome from 19-23 October, while revealing a revamped format that will spread the event across several venues in the city centre.
Among the international figures taking part in MIA’s fireside chats are Banijay Entertainment CEO Marco Bassetti; German director and producer Edward Berger, whose credits include Conclave and All Quiet on the Western Front; Anna Marsh, deputy CEO and chief content officer of CANAL+, and CEO of STUDIOCANAL; and Jane Tranter, CEO and co-founder of Bad Wolf, whose production credits include Industry, Succession and The Other Bennet Sister.
Also joining the programme is Raj Singh, co-founder and CEO of Media Capital Technologies, who will participate in the newly launched European Investment Hub. The initiative will bring together European institutions, public and private funds, banks, investors, and industry professionals to examine financing instruments, investment strategies and policies supporting the audiovisual sector. ANICA will also present a study on changing patterns of film consumption, while APA will unveil its annual report on the audiovisual industry.
The new MIA format will effectively transform Via Veneto and Piazza Barberini into an urban audiovisual district. Palazzo Barberini will remain the market’s institutional headquarters and will host its principal conferences and strategic sessions, while the Westin Excelsior will join the circuit as the new Film & Drama Hub, accommodating pitching forums, showcases, panels and meetings between sales agents and buyers.
Documentary activities will move to the InterContinental Rome Ambasciatori Palace, which will house pitching sessions, showcases and a dedicated networking lounge. Meanwhile, the Sina Bernini Bristol will focus on animation, hosting programmes including Animation Next and the market’s new Gap Financing initiative for animated series.
Further venues include the Grand Hotel Palace for private meetings and training activities, Spaces Via Veneto for talent development, IP and professional training, and W Rome, which will host the daily CASA MIA networking events.
Promoted by ANICA and APA under the direction of Gaia Tridente, MIA brings together the film, drama, documentary, animation and entertainment industries, with its 2026 edition placing an increased emphasis on financing, cross-sector collaboration and international business opportunities.
More information will be unveiled soon.
