Iberseries & Platino Industria has successfully wrapped its sixth edition after it was held in Madrid from 29 September-2 October. Over this period, international expansion, investment, co-production, and the transformation of creation, production and consumption models were the main focus as the landscape of an ever-more-connected audiovisual industry was sketched out. The event brought the leading international players in the audiovisual sector to Madrid, with a programme of talks and meetings that focused on the transformation of the business, the international expansion of content, new audiences, financing, global IPs and new formats (see the news).
The programme also paid particular attention to the evolution of formats and new narratives. Alongside this focus on innovation, it highlighted the power of local stories to reach global audiences, a through-line present both in the main sessions and in the creator-to-creator dialogues, which examined the potential of the hyperlocal to transcend borders.
In this way, Iberseries & Platino Industria reaffirms its mission to connect Ibero-American talent and content with an increasingly global industry. The growth in participation, the arrival of new markets, and the boost to investment, co-production and innovation all bolster its ability to generate new opportunities, alliances and projects. Its evolution is also reflected in the figures published for this sixth edition: the industry gathering was attended by 3,300 accredited professionals, up more than 20% on 2025 and the highest figure recorded to date; it brought together over 1,700 companies, 14% more than at the previous edition, and featured representation from 54 countries, also an all-time high and more than double its first edition. Forty-seven percent of accredited professionals hailed from outside Spain, consolidating international participation that increasingly extends beyond the Ibero-American domain, with attendees from territories such as Turkey, China, India and Korea, for example.
In addition, the 25 Iberscreenings sessions once again turned the event into a showcase for some of the productions set to hit screens soon: among them were El laberinto de las mariposas, a romantic thriller from Secuoya Studios, starring famed Turkish actor Can Yaman; Véspera, the HBO Max adaptation of the bestseller by Brazilian author Carla Madeira; Killing a Bear, the Movistar Plus original series created by brothers Jorge and Alberto Sánchez-Cabezudo, and starring Eduard Fernández (see the news); Rojo sobre blanco and Rocío, two major upcoming fiction titles from RTVE; Criminopatía, the adaptation of Clara Tiscar’s true-crime podcast, which will land on Netflix as a documentary series; and Somos así, la serie de Nadie dice nada, a Disney+ and Luzu TV production.
With more than 200 attending buyers, including over 50 commissioners from 30 countries, Iberscreenings has reinforced its international dimension as a space connecting producers, distributors, platforms, broadcasters, sales agents and acquisitions executives. Overall, Iberseries & Platino Industria has cemented its position as one of the main meeting points for the Ibero-American audiovisual sector, bringing together producers, platforms, major groups, investors and professionals to analyse the trends transforming the business as well as the opportunities for international growth for Spanish- and Portuguese-language content.
