The German-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund has announced the seven projects selected to receive support in 2026, awarding a total of €121,000 in development grants. Established in 2011, the fund is a collaboration between Meetings on the Bridge, organised by the İstanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) as part of the Istanbul Film Festival, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg and MOIN Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein.
In its 16th year, the fund received a record number of applications. The programme supports feature-length co-productions between Turkey and Germany, bringing together established filmmakers and emerging talent. This year's initiative also benefits from the support of the İKSV Young Artist Fund.
The highest grant, €25,000, goes to The Power Plant, directed by Tayfun Pirselimoğlu, whose work spans literature, painting and cinema. His filmography includes I'm Not Him, which received international festival recognition, and his latest work, Kerr, which premiered in the main competition of the San Sebastián International Film Festival.
Adem and the Others, directed by Onur Saylak, receives €20,000. Saylak made his feature-length directorial debut with More, which screened at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, before directing Chokehold, which premiered at International Film Festival Rotterdam and subsequently reached a wider international audience through Netflix.
Chen & Gan, directed by Çağla Zencirci and Guillaume Giovanetti, also receives €20,000. The directorial duo previously helmed Sibel, starring Damla Sönmez, which premiered in competition at the Locarno Film Festival and received international recognition. Meanwhile, their third collaboration, Confidante, premiered in the Berlinale Panorama.
When the Sky Fades Away, directed by Seyfettin Tokmak, receives €15,000. Tokmak previously helmed Broken Mussels, which won the Arte Award at the Sarajevo Film Festival. His second feature, Empire of the Rabbits, received the Best Script and Best Cinematography Awards at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival.
Since its establishment, the German-Turkish Co-Production Development Fund has provided €1,342,000 in support to German-Turkish co-production projects.
