Il danese Nikolaj Lie Kaas si è fatto notare nel 1991 in Drengene Fra Sankt Petri di Soren Kragh-Jacobsen grazie al quale vince due premi, vincendo in seguito il premio come Miglior attore non protagonista nel 1999, per il film Idioti di Lars von Trier.
