Tavernier, Bouchareb and Assayas in StudioCanal’s line-up
StudioCanal’s international sales team, headed by Harold van Lier, will be at the European Film Market (EFM) at the 60th Berlinale (February 11-21) to start sales for three titles that are widely tipped for selection at Cannes in May: Bertrand Tavernier’s La Princesse de Montpensier (“The Princess of Montpensier”, see news); Rachid Bouchareb’s Outside the Law (see news); and the big-screen version of Olivier Assayas’ Carlos the Jackal (see news).
The line-up also includes Jean Becker’s La Tête en Friche (“Uncultivated Head”, see news), starring Gérard Depardieu, and Sergio Machado’s Brazilian film The Two Deaths of Quincas Wateryell.
Among the market screenings are several French films: Marc Dugain’s An Ordinary Execution, featuring André Dussollier as Stalin (pre-sold for Germany, Benelux and Switzerland – to be released in France tomorrow); Dominique Farrugia and Arnaud Lemort’s L'Amour, C’est Mieux à Deux (“Love’s Better With Two”), whose cast includes Clovis Cornillac; Léa Fazer’s family comedy Ensemble, C’est Trop (“Together Is Too Much”), starring Nathalie Baye and Eric Cantona; and Albert Dupontel’s The Villain [+see also:

Also to be presented are Marcos Efron’s US/Argentinean thriller And Soon The Darkness and Daniel Stamm’s US horror film Cotton.
At EFM, StudioCanal will continue pre-sales for several European titles in production, including UK films Brighton Rock by Rowan Joffe (see news) and Attack the Block by Joe Cornish (see news); 3D animated feature The Secret Passage (formerly known as Around The World in 50 Years) by Belgian director Ben Stassen; Bruc by Spain’s Daniel Benmayor; and Percy Adlon’s German film Mahler on the Couch.
