Written by the director, Guillaume Vigneault and Jean Barbe, and based on the book by Paul Marchand, the story revolves around the character of Paul Marchand, who, after Lebanon, spent 18 months as an international correspondent for all French-language radio stations during the Siege of Sarajevo. The movie is a chronicle of what many journalists from this so-called “Sarajevo generation” still remember as their very best years. 

Produced by Jean-Yves Robin and Marc Stanimirovic for Paris-based outfit Monkey Pack FilmsSympathy for the Devil is being co-produced by Canada’s Go Films, Belgium’s Nexus Factory and Lyon-based Logical Pictures. The film, which has been pre-purchased by Canal+ and Ciné+, is shooting for seven weeks in Sarajevo, from 2 February-15 March. The French distribution will be handled by Rezo Films and the international sales by Charades
