Written by Guillaume Nicloux, the screenplay focuses on Michel Houellebecq and Gérard Depardieu, who are undergoing treatment at a Thalasso Centre in Cabourg. Together they are attempting to survive the health plan imposed upon them by the institution. But some extraordinary events will disrupt their schedule...

Produced by Sylvie Pialat and Benoît Quainon for Les Films du Worso, Thalasso was co-produced by Wild Bunch (who will manage the film's French distribution and international sales). Pre-commissioned by Canal+ and Ciné+, the feature film has also benefited from an advance on earnings from the CNC, Sofica Cofinova and Cinéfeel. The three weeks of filming are due to take place in Normandy until 21 December, with Christophe Offenstein (winner of a César Award in 2016 for Valley of Love and nominated in 2007 for Tell No One [+see also:
