Claire Denis to chair the shorts and Cinéfondation jury at Cannes
- The French filmmaker will judge the films duking it out in the Cinéfondation Selection and the short-film competition on the Croisette in May
The movies by film schools in the Cinéfondation Selection and the short films in competition at the 72nd Cannes Film Festival (14-25 May) will be judged by a jury set to be chaired by French filmmaker Claire Denis, who is thus stepping into the shoes of previous chairs Bertrand Bonello, Cristian Mungiu, Naomi Kawase, Abderrahmane Sissako, Abbas Kiarostami, Jane Campion, Jean-Pierre Dardenne and Martin Scorsese.
As a reminder, the seasoned director made it into the Cannes competition in 1988 with her first feature, Chocolat, and returned to the Croisette four more times. She was part of the Official Selection with J'ai pas sommeil (Un Certain Regard, 1994), Trouble Every Day (Midnight Screening, 2001) and Bastards [+see also:
