The jury tasked with handing out the Grand Prize in the 58th Critics’ Week, which will unspool from 15-23 May as an integral part of the 72nd Canes Film Festival, will be chaired by Colombian director Ciro Guerra (who has the features Wandering Shadows, The Wind Journeys, Embrace of the Serpent and Birds of Passage [+lee también:

ficha de la película] under his belt, and is currently in post-production with Waiting for the Barbarians), who thus follows in the footsteps of previous presidents Joachim Trier, Lee Chang-dong, Bertrand Bonello, Miguel Gomes, Andrea Arnold, the late Ronit Elkabetz, Valérie Donzelli and Kleber Mendonça Filho.
Guerra will be flanked by French-British actress Amira Casar, French producer of Danish descent Marianne Slot, Belgian-Congolese critic Djia Mambu and Italian director Jonas Carpignano.
The jury will also hand out the Discovery Prize, which will single out one of the short films in the running, and the Rising Star Award, which will be bestowed upon an actor or actress in one of the features presented in competition.
The selection of the 2019 Critics’ Week will be revealed online on 22 April.
