Once again this year, the Mediterranean Film Institute (MFI) is launching the European MFI Script 2 Film Workshops programme, on the islands of the Southeast Aegean.

For this iteration, the MFI received 143 applications from 233 filmmakers hailing from 42 countries. The organisers have selected 56 filmmakers with 25 feature-length scripts, three TV-series scripts, six documentary projects and seven trainees without a project, who will be tutored in script development and team coaching. Furthermore, three additional film projects and one series have been selected to work individually outside of the groups as part of a platform specially tailored just for them. This year, the MFI has offered two scholarships to Ukrainian filmmakers, for film and for series projects, in a proactive attempt to show solidarity and support.

A total of 63 participants will travel to the enchanting volcanic island of Nisyros, together with the trainers, staff, guests and students attending the programme. They will form a community of more than 100 people, aiming to work intensively and learn from each other. The first session of the 2022 MFI Script 2 Film Workshops will run from 24 June-7 July on Nisyros, and it will unspool entirely on location. All of the lectures will be available to all MFI participants, both live and on demand, in order to provide them with all of the tools necessary to develop their films.
