EXCLUSIVE: Shooting imminent on Julia Kowalski’s Que ma volonté soit faite

The first clapperboard is set to slam on 6 November in the French department of Vendée on Que ma volonté soit faite, Julia Kowalski’s second feature film after Raging Rose [+see also:

(screened in Cannes’ ACID section in 2015). For the record, the French filmmaker of Polish origin also garnered considerable acclaim for her short film I Saw the Face of the Devil (unveiled in the 2023 Directors’ Fortnight and awarded the Jean Vigo Prize in the same year, as well as the Grand Prize in Clermont-Ferrand’s national competition this year).

Stealing focus at the head of the cast are Poland’s Maria Wróbel (who previously toplined I Saw the Face of the Devil and was well-received in this year’s Loss of Balance) and French-American actress Roxane Mesquida (at her best in The Last Mistress [+see also:

Penned by the director herself, the story revolves around Nawojka, a young woman wrestling with her monstruous desire who’s convinced that she’s under a strange hereditary curse and who tries to extricate herself from the shackles of her family by way of Sandra, her sultry neighbour who’s come home to the village...

Produced by Estelle Robin You on behalf of Grande Ourse Films, in co-production with Flavien Giorda and Yann Gonzalez on behalf of Venin Films and with Polish firm Orka Film, Que ma volonté soit faite has been pre-purchased by France Télévisions and Ciné+/OCS. Likewise supported by the Pays de la Loire region and the SOFICA company Indéfilms, Kowalski’s feature-length movie will be shot in Vendée until 11 December with Simon Beaufils (nominated for the 2024 and 2021 Césars in his speciality thanks to Anatomy of a Fall [+see also:
