The Italian Competition programme, meanwhile, consists of four categories: drama, comedy, miniseries and TV movies, all of them contenders for Best Series, Miniseries, Comedy, Best Director, Best Leading Actress, Best Leading Actor and Best Screenplay. Over seven days, the festival will be packed with previews, premieres and retrospectives to invited media and public, offering fans the chance to interact with casts and producers alike.
The artistic director of the IGSF, Marco Spagnoli, stated: “This fantastic programme is proof of the extraordinary variety and quality that we seek to present at the IGSF. This festival is not just a celebration of great stories, but a testament to the cultural and creative power of television on a global scale. We are excited to bring such a wide range of voices and captivating narratives together in one place."
The full programme is available on the official festival website. One highlight is the special event The Light of David Lynch, which will take place on 23 June in Rimini, in homage to the world of the great recently departed US director, moderated by Carlo Chatrian, director of the National Museum of Cinema in Turin. With exclusive screenings, global guests and celebrations for devotees of the series format, this first edition of IGSF, organised by APA (Audiovisual Producers’ Association) with the support of the Ministry of Culture, Cinecittà Spa, the regional government of Emilia-Romagna and the municipal authorities of Riccione and Rimini, is aiming to establish itself as an ambitious new reference point for series on television and modern streaming platforms.
