Since Tuesday 2 September, Jeanne Herry has been shooting Another Day, her 4th feature film after Elle l’adore (nominated for the 2015 Best First Film César), In Safe Hands (boasting 840,000 admissions in France and seven César nominations in 2019, notably for Best Film, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay) and All Your Faces (earning 1.16 million admissions in France and nine César nominations in 2024, also including for Best Film, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay).

The cast is led by Adèle Exarchopoulos (awarded Cannes’ Palme d’Or in 2013, the Best Newcomer César for Blue Is the Warmest Colour, and the 2024 César for All Your Faces, nominated three additional times, recently highly acclaimed in The Piano Accident and hitting cinemas on 15 October in Dog 51) and Sara Giraudeau (awarded the Best Supporting Role César in 2018 for Bloody Milk, known around the world for the series The Bureau, and hitting cinemas in 2026 in L’Affaire Bojarski and Derrière les palmiers).

Penned by Jeanne Herry herself (who also co-wrote The Kingdom), the story follows Garance, who’s a young actress but not a star. Brave, joyful and resilient, she manages things as best she can, finding fuel and unconditional comfort in alcohol. Garance subsequently changes her life and sets out on an eight-year journey of relocations, work, encounters, parties, anxieties, joyful moments and harsh blows… She embarks upon an intimate, friendship-focused and sexual revolution, but she continues to drink increasing amounts. Until death seems to loom...

Another Day is being produced by Hugo Sélignac and Nicolas Dumont on behalf of Chi-Fou-Mi Productions and by Alain Attal for Trésor Films, in co-production with Belgian firm Artémis Productions. The film’s array of partners will be revealed at a later date. Shooting will unfold in Paris, the surrounding region and in Soulac-sur-Mer until 3 December, with Antoine Cormier (The Kingdom) heading up photography.

For the record, Chi-Fou-Mi Productions are currently overseeing post-production on Alexandre Smia’s Jupiter and Quentin Dupieux’s mysterious movie Signaux, having recently produced Dog 51 by Cédric Jimenez (which closed the Venice Film Festival), Out of Love by Nathan Ambrosioni (who scooped Best Director in Karlovy Vary) and Bagarre by Julien Royal. Trésor Films, for their part, recently produced Pierre Schoeller’s Rembrandt.
