La grande bellezza is the title of much awaited new film by Paolo Sorrentino, who has already chosen some of his protagonists: Toni Servillo, Carlo Verdone and Sabrina Ferilli.

It's the first film by Sorrentino to be set and shot entirely in Rome, where filming will start in August. The film's plot remains top secret, but according to the weekly Best Movie, it revolves around the character of Jap Gambardella, a 65-year-old journalist played by Servillo. His will be a professionally successful and charming character, who through his work tells the story of the beautiful and complex city of Rome, moving between culture and social life. The subject is Paolo Sorrentino's, who is also the author of the script together with Umberto Contarello.

Luca Bigazzi will be director of photography, Stefania Cella and Daniela Ciancio will take care of set design and costumes, Cristiano Travaglioli will edit.

La grande bellezza is an Italo-French co-production : Indigo Film and Medusa Film for Italy, Babe Films and Pathé, who is also taking care of international sales, for France. The film will receive support from Lazio's Regional Fund for the film and audiovisual industry.
