ACID unveils its selection

- Nine independent films will be screened on the Croisette as part of this alternative programme running alongside the Cannes Film Festival.

As in previous years, the ACID association (Association du Cinéma Indépendant pour sa Diffusion) will present  its alternative programme on the Croisette  alongside the Cannes Film Festival (from May 16th to 25th, 2013). Nine feature films have been selected including five French films, a Franco-Afghan one, and movies from Great Britain, Germany and Morocco.

Two French fiction films by young filmmakers stand out: La Bataille de Solférino by Justine Triet (article) and Deux automnes, trois hivers by Sébastien Betbeder (noticed at the 2012 Toronto Film Festival with Nights with Theodore [+see also:

). The will be accompanied by documentaries in Cannes, including O Heureux Jours by Dominique CabreraAu Bord du Monde by Claus Drexel and Braddock America by duo Jean-Loic Porton - Gabriella Kessler.

 by Ramon Zürcher (unveiled at the  Forum of the Berlinale – review) has also been selected, together with the Franco-Afghan film Wajma by Barmak Akram (discovered at the last Sundance Festival in the World Cinema Dramatic competition - news), the documentary Swandown by hyper-creative British director Andrew Kötting, and the Moroccan production C’est eux les chiens by Hicham Lasri.

Among first films to have been shown on the ACID programme in Cannes, it is worth mentioning those by Serge Bozon, Lucas Belvaux, Alain Gomis, Claire Simon, Djinn Carrénard, Pierre Schoeller, Vincent Dieutre, Arnaud and Jean-Marie Larrieu, Rachid Djaïdani, Nicolás Pereda, Ursula Meier, Avi Mograbi, Gilles Porte and Yolande Moreau.
