Although it gave up its activity as a distributor for theatres in France at the beginning of the year, the MK2 group still handles international sales (an area considered much more profitable) and will be present at the Marché du Film at the 66th Cannes Film Festival (from May 15th to 26th, 2013) with some significant assets. The line-up in fact features the Chinese-Japanese coproduction A Touch of Sin by Jia Zhangke, in competition (news), and the Franco-Israeli film A Strange Course of Events (photo) by Raphaël Nadjari (article), to be showcased during the Directors’ Fortnight.

The sales team managed by Juliette Schrameck also counts on making good deals with three feature films currently in post-production: Tom at the Farm by Canadian director Xavier Dolan, Geronthophilia by his compatriot Bruce LaBruce and Hotel (article) by Swedish director Lisa Langseth.

After Cannes, the MK2 group, managed by Marin and Nathanaël Karmitz, will make headlines in Paris from June 10th to 21st with Cinema Paradiso, the biggest Drive-In (1,000 places in Fiat 500 seats) to have ever taken place in a capital city. Two screenings a day of cult films will be on the programme in the nave of the Grand Palais on the biggest temporary screen in the world, while catering areas, games and clubbing will complete this original vintage concept which has already sparked enthusiastic attention from the media and the general public.
