10/05/2013 - Images from four movies currently rolling or in post-production by Paolo Virzi, Hélène Cattet – Bruno Forzani, Henrik Hellstrom and Pablo Fendrik

At the Film Market of the 66th Cannes Film Festival, the French international sales company Bac Films will show the first images of thriller The Ardor by Pablo Fendrik (revealed in the Critics' Week in Cannes in 2008 with La sangra brota). Gael Garcia Bernal (photo) tops the bill in the role of a mysterious man who rescues the kidnapped daughter (Alice Braga) of a farmer killed by mercenaries who then embark on a manhunt. Coproduced by the Parisian company with Argentina, Brazil and Mexico, the movie is being filmed from April 15th until May 31st.

Another coproduction with Manny Films stands out in Bac’s line-up: Human Capital by Italian director Paolo Virzi (news), based on the best-seller of the same name by Stephen Amidon. With cameras rolling until June 14th, the movie, whose first promo reel will be screened in Cannes, features Valeria Bruni Tedeschi, Valeria Golino and Fabrizio Bentivoglio in the cast.

A promo reel will also be screened of the France-Belgium-Luxembourg coproduction, The Strange Color of your Body’s Tears (article) by duo Hélène Cattet – Bruno Forzani (French filmmakers living in Brussels), currently in post-production.

The line-up also features the English-language film The Quiet Roar by Swedish director Henrik Hellstrom. Currently in post-production, this second feature film by the director of Burrowing recounts the mishaps of a 68 year-old woman suffering from a terminal illness who finds a clinic where she is treated with LSD and meditation, treatments which send her back to when she was 25 years old and met her ex-husband…

It is also worth mentioning that Bac Films will announce a new acquisition at the start of the Cannes Film Market. To be continued...
