Written by Emmanuel Mouret, the screenplay revolves around Jean (Starr), an electrician who installs alarm systems in the beautiful houses of southern France. While he is on the job, he meets Aurore (Trinca), an internationally renowned pianist. Despite their differences, they fall in love immediately and project a new life together. Jean wants to leave Dolorès (Ledoyen), his long time partner, but the latter will stop at nothing to keep her man.

Produced by Frédéric Niedermeyer for Moby Dick Films (on his sixth film with Mouret), Une autre vie has been pre-bought by Orange Cinéma Séries and has received support from the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, FTD, Sofica Cinémages and Indéfilms. Distribution into French cinemas is being guaranteed by Pyramide for January 15, 2014, while international sales are being taken on by Kinology.
