25/06/2013 - The Belgian actor to start work on set of French Sarah Leonor’s second feature film, a production by Les Films Hatari

film profile], Sarah Leonor will start shooting for her second feature film tomorrow: Le grand homme qui ne voulait pas mourir. The cast includes Belgian actor Jérémie Renier (photo – a favourite with the Dardenne brothers, nominated for a César this year for his role in Cloclo [+see also:

film profile] and who we will see again this autumn in La confrérie des larmes), Surho Sugaipov and Ramzan Idiev.

Written by the director herself with Emmanuelle Jacob, the screenplay tells the story of a friendship between two soldiers who return from Afghanistan to Paris, where they try and make sense of life.

Produced by Michel Klein (with assistance from Laetitia Fèvre) for Les Films Hatari (already behind the director’s first film), Le grand homme qui ne voulait pas mourir will be coproduced by Studio Orlando. Bought in advance by Ciné+, the feature film is also being supported through anticipation of profits by CNC, the Ile-de-France region, Sofica Cinémage 8 and Indéfilms 2. While in its development phase, the film was supported by CNC, the Lower Normandy region, Procirep, Angoa, the Media programme and Cinémage.

Filming will last until August 23 in Paris, Marseilles and Morocco, with Laurent Desmet as director of photography. French distribution and international sales will be handled by Bac Films.
