(Anyám és más futóbolondok a családból). Noticed with her first feature Bolshe Vita (rewarded in 1996-1997 notably in London, Angers and Cottbus), the Hungarian director had confirmed her talent with Chico (Best Director Award in Karlovy Vary in 2001 and Grand Prix at the Hungarian Film Week 2002) before moving away from cinema by working on documentaries and signing a TV adaptation of A Mester ès Margarita in 2005.

Hungarian actress Juli Básti and Polish cinema legend Danuta Szaflarska (honoured in Camerimage in 2004 for the entirety of her career) star in her new film. They will be surrounded amongst others by Eszter Ónodi and Tibor Gáspár.

Written by Ibolya Fekete, the screenplay is the story of an odd family during the 20th century. Four generations of “crazies” led by the character of Mum who lived 94 years and moved 27 times in her life. Moving was her only way ofconfronting troubles, dangers and conflicts. In reality, it was History that chased her throughout the country and made her go through a terrible century. At the incredible age of 94, Mum tells the story of these events to her daughter, nearly 100 years of often mischievous and heart-warming but also sometimes painful episodes.

Produced by Gábor Garami for Cinema-Film, Mom and Other Loonies in the Family is coproduced by German outfit NiKo Film (Nicole Gerhards), Bulgarian company KaBoAl Pictures (Kalin Kalinov) and Croatian company Kinorama, notably with the backing of the Hungarian Film Fund. The filming will be spread over four seasons.
