The director from Madrid Manuel Gomez Pereira is currently filming La ignorancia de la sangre, based on the novel The Ignorance of Blood by Portugal-based British author Robert Wilson. The filming of this police thriller with detective Javier Falcon began on November 7 and is taking place between the Canary Islands, Seville, Marruecos and Madrid.

The film is produced by Tornasol Films, Maestranza Films and Hernandez y Fernandez Producciones Cinematograficas, with the backing of TVE. The lead roles were given to famous actors with strong commercial potential: Juan Diego Botto, Paz Vega and Alberto San Juan.

La ignorancia de la sangre tells the story of Javier Falcon (Botto), the chief of the homicide department of the Seville police. Over a very short period of time he must solve not one but two cases. First, he must untangle the complex consequences of a spying case in which he is personally involved – indeed, an old friend of his has infiltrated a network of Islamist terrorists who now want to recruit his adolescent son. Furthermore, Falcon is working on the kidnapping case of a child by the Russian mafia, but the ransom price that is asked of him to get the child back is much too high.

Wilson’s novel on which the film is based, published in 2009, is in fact Falcon’s fourth investigation, after The Blind Man of Seville (2003), The Silent and the Damned (2004) and The Hidden Assassins (2006). Wilson’s work was adapted for the big screen by Argentinean scriptwriter Nicolas Saad.
