Written by the director together with Emmanuel Courcol (who co-wrote four of Philippe Lioret’s films), the screenplay focuses on Antoine, a distressed 40-year-old man. His obsession with the unexplained death of his mother 30 years earlier is a heavy burden on his life. His wife has left him, and he is in the process of wrecking his relationship with his sister Mélanie, the only person who is truly close to him. His children are upset, and his entire family seems to be turning against him. But Antoine has reached the point of no return in his search for the truth: he knows that he has to face up to the past and confront his father, an overbearing man who forbids anyone from bringing up the story of his wife’s death... and who is obviously hiding something. But is there really a mystery to be solved, or is it just Antoine’s overactive imagination? He decides to return to the place of her death, and with the help of Angèle, a forensic pathologist, he tries to shed light on this mystery that broke his heart as a ten-year-old boy. However, some doors, once opened, can never be shut again...

Produced by François Kraus and Denis Pineau-Valencienne for Les Films du Kiosque, Boomerang is benefitting from co-production by France 2 Cinéma and TF1 Droits Audiovisuels, pre-purchases by Orange Cinéma Séries and Ciné+, and backing by Sofica Manonet La Banque Postale Image. Shooting will continue until 25 April in the Paris area and in Noirmoutier. Distribution in France will be handled by UGC and foreign sales by TF1 International.

Les Films du Kiosque’s line-up currently features the post-production title Qu'Allah bénisse la France by the rapper and author Abd Al Malik (read the article – French release on 27 August 2014 via Ad Vitam), and the firm racked up a huge success last year with Bright Days Ahead, by Marion Vernoux.
