The screenplay, written by Zenide, follows the story of Mara (Dorotheea Petre, from The Way I Spent the End of the World [+see also:

). She lives in a small village in the Danube Delta and treats the ailing fishermen there with the miraculous mud found in the area. When she becomes pregnant and tells the villagers that it is not a man but the mud that is responsible for her pregnancy, she is banished from the village. She finds a job at a hotel spa, where she meets Lili (Elina Löwensohn), a rich, sophisticated woman who will alter the course of Mara’s destiny.

Zenide says she wants to explore this corner of Europe “where East meets West through the wild, indomitable lands, with small communities, with fewer and fewer people left behind because the youngsters go elsewhere, to the immediate vicinity, where modern civilisation flourishes, replacing tradition with technology and Occidental pragmatism”. The two main characters represent the two different worlds.

A domestic release is expected for 2015. Independenţa Film will distribute the film in Romania, while the Swiss launch will be handled by Filmcoopi
