There are four Dutch projects (one minority and three majority co-productions) among the 20 new films selected recently by the Eurimages fund.

Ties Schenk’s feature debut, Monk, was awarded €190,000. The movie focuses on a hypochondriac 13-year-old boy from a mixed-up family, all of whom find redemption, at least partially, at the end of a road trip to Spain. First presented at the 2014 edition of the Cinemart market, Monk is produced by Marleen Slot (Producer on the Move 2013 – read the interview) for Amsterdam-based outfit Viking Film along with Belgian partner A Private View.

€280,000 were allocated to Peter Greenaway’s Walking to Paris – one of several projects by the British director to be produced by Dutch producer Kees Kasander for his Amsterdam- and London-based company Cinatura (read more). Switzerland’s Cobra Film, Romanian firm Abis Studio and France’s CDP are on board as co-producers.

Meester Kikker, a project written by Mieke de Jong, to be directed by Anna van der Heijde, was granted €291,000. The story of a teacher who occasionally transforms into a frog and needs his students to protect him from other animals is a co-production between Bos Bros (Netherlands) and Prime Time (Belgium).

Lastly, the Dutch minority co-production Rehepapp, produced by Estonia’s Homeless Bob Productions and directed by Rainer Sarnet in co-production with Amsterdam-based PRPL, was allocated €120,000 (read more).

Eurimages has supported 1,654 European co-productions since its creation in 1988.
