25/04/2012 - Dimitri Rassam's production company is booming with the release of What's in a Name? through Pathé and the shooting of Gibraltar.

An intense period of activity for Chapter 2, who today sees the cinema release of What's in a Name? [+see also:

film profile] by the Alexandre de la Patellière - Matthieu Delaporte duo, powered by Pathé Films in 450 copies. An adaptation of a successful play, this sharp and effective comedy was well received by the critics. Starring Patrick Bruel, Charles Berling, Valérie Benguigui, Judith El Zein and Guillaume de Tonquedec, the film centres around a dinner during which the masks come off to reveal prejudices and pettiness. Benefiting from a budget of €11.03 M, it was co-produced by TF1 Film Productions, M6 Films, Fargo Nexus Factory and headed by Pathé (who is driving international sales).

Dimitri Rassam's company also finished shooting Nicolas Bary's Au bonheur des ogres at the end of March (see the news), based on the eponymous novel by Daniel Pennac. It is also counts Patrick Mille's Mauvaise fille in post-production (produced with the co-operation of ARP Sélection) starring Izia Higelin, Carole Bouquet, Patrick Dupont and Bob Geldof.

Chapter 2 is currently shooting Julien Leclercq's ambitious film Gibraltar (Chrysalis [+see also:

film profile]), with a screenplay written by Abdel Raouf Dafri based on Marc Fiévet's L'aviseur, the autobiography of an undercover officer sent amongst Spain's drug traffickers by the French customs and who was later abandoned by his seniors. The film stars Gilles Lellouche, Tahar Rahim, Italy's Riccardo Scarmacio, Emir Kusturica, Mélanie Bernier and Raphaelle Agogué. With Chapter 2 as the main producer, working with Studio 37, the film enjoyed a budget of €18,9 M, including a Canadian co-production. SND will take care of the French release and is in charge of international sales.
