- June 6-9 host a cross-fertilization between film, arts and new technology. Guests include New York-based artists Tenney, Kreisinger and Street

Tomorrow, June 6, sees the opening of the first Italian festival entirely dedicated to film remix: the MAshRome Film Fest. Four days (until Saturday 9) of experimentation, interaction between the arts and contemporary trends. "Crossmedia, artistic cross-fertilization, collective cinema, crowdfunding and crowdsourcing are the tags of our festival", explains Mariangela Matarozzo, founder of the MAshRome together with Alessandra Lo Russo (see the news), underlining the internet's role as a vehicle of new forms of expression, which, when mixed with traditional ones, can give new life to the cinema of the future: "It's the third industrial revolution".

by Hungary's György Pálfi - see the news), a full programme of works of audiovisual mash-up will start tomorrow in Rome, at the Acquario Romano - Casa dell'Architettura. The most typically cinematic section is MAshPrime, with 8 films in competition varying from 7 to 24 minutes in length, created from the cross-fertilization of different film genres (amongst them, Funny Game Ghost, which revisits Haneke's film, made by Austria's Karin Hammer and Stefan Hafner - photo); then there is the more experimental MAshNew Experience section, reserved for the interaction between cinema, art and technology (26 films from all over the world, amongst which Italy's Deep Cuts by Tommaso Caverni); and finally,Talented Youth, 14 films from artists at international film schools.

Foreign guests in Rome, particularly American (for who audiovisual mash-up is already an established reality), will include New York-based artists Tom Tenney, Elisa Kreisinger and Mark Street, to whom Focus sessions will be dedicated and who will take part in a Masterclass on June 8 on creativity and artistic expression, together with the directors Paola Randi (Into Paradiso), Alessandro Piva (La Capagira, Henry) and documentary film maker Paolo Ceretto. The programme also foresees a tribute to Ridley Scott with his project on YouTube, Life in a Day, and a link-up to the Vimeo Awards with US' Kasumi, a famous artist who fuses film and live performance.

The winner of the Alice Postmoderna contest will also be announced during the festival. This is a competition thought up by Marco Minghetti (teacher at the University of Pavia) and made in collaboration with the online platform for production and distribution of independent films, Cineama.it, which told of the many faces of our times by inspiring itself on the characters of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland and revisiting the countless audiovisual works dedicated to her.
