, recently seen in Diabolik – Who Are You?, as well as in the hit TV series The Sea Beyond) is stepping into the shoes of Tattilo, a woman who made headlines as well as stirring up controversy in Italy at the end of the ‘60s for challenging social conventions and representing a full-blown break with the traditions and taboos which had characterised the country up to that point.

, Black Out - Vite sospese and Cuori). Writing is entrusted to Mario Ruggeri (who created the Sky TV series Devils, among other works), who’ll act as head writer, alongside authors Eleonora Cimpanelli, Chiara Laudani, Sergio Leszczynski and Alessandro Sermoneta.

“I’ve been an editor at some glossy, erotic magazines and that’s why I stole the limelight for the steps I took against bigotry and the false moralism of the time, trying through my struggles to transform Italy’s social and sexual customs and inviting freedom in how we behave”, explained Adelina Tattilo, who died in 2007 at 78 years of age. Mrs Playmen will tell the story of this tenacious and courageous woman who headed up Playmen, which was Italy’s response to Playboy. Under Adelina’s lead, the magazine helped bring about radical change in Italian habits, but not without the myriad challenges typical of any revolution. The classy nude, which offered a glimpse rather than full exposure, the boldness of the themes tackled, which often incited women to legitimise their own desires, and significant contributions from some of Italy’s leading intellectuals turned Playmen into a place for free and eclectic conversation. An intelligent and unrepeatable transgression in a highly religious and conservative Italy, Mrs Playmen is a story about a magazine which helped shape the history of Italian customs and about those who made it symbolic.
