by Fabien Lemercier
- The director also features among the cast of his feature debut together with Florence Thomassin, in a Rouge International production distributed by Wild Bunch
Since 16 June, shooting has been under way in Roanne for the feature debut by Olivier Loustau: La fille du patron [+see also:
film profile] (lit. “The Boss’s Daughter”). The filmmaker (also an accomplished actor, particularly in virtually all of Abdellatif Kechiche’s films) is heading up the cast together with Christa Théret (nominated for the César for Most Promising Actress in 2010 and 2012, and giving excellent performances in Renoir [+see also:

film profile], Public Enemy Number One [+see also:
film profile] and Lost Paradise [+see also:
film profile]; hitting screens on 16 July in Ablations [+see also:
film profile]). According to Cineuropa’s sources, the film also stars Belgian actor Patrick Descamps, Stéphane Rideau, Vincent Martinez, Moussa Maaskri, Spanish actress Lola Dueñas, Ludovic Berthillot and Steve Tientcheu.
Written by the director together with Bérénice André and Agnès Caffin, the story revolves around the character of 40-year-old Vital, who works as a workshop foreman in a textile factory. He is chosen as a “guinea pig” by 25-year-old Alix, who has come to carry out an ergonomic study at her father’s company, on condition of anonymity. The boss’s daughter quickly succumbs to the charms of this reserved and secretive worker, who opens up little by little as he spends more time with her and seems to be dreaming of a different life. One evening, they both make a break for it on a motorbike – and so begins a chaotic love affair in which the lovers’ different social standings attract them just as much as they tear them apart…
Produced by Julie Gayet and Nadia Turincev for Rouge International, La fille du patron is benefitting from co-productions by Rhône-Alpes Cinéma, Bethsabée Mucho and France 2 Cinéma. Having been pre-purchased by Canal+ and OCS, the film is also being backed by Sofica Palatine Etoile 12. The eight-week shoot in Roanne will wrap on 9 August, and the DoP is Crystel Fournier (who has been involved with all of Céline Sciamma’s films). Distribution in France and international sales will be handled by Wild Bunch.
