Principal photography is underway at East London locations on Beautiful Devils, directed by James Marquand (I Against I). A modern version of William Shakespeare’s tragedy Othello, the film resets the tale in the contemporary music industry and follows upcoming musician Oz who sidelines his friend Ivan and instead favours his lover Darcy and her friend Casper. As Oz rises to stardom, Ivan pretends to stay close to him while plotting to ruin him with the help of Rigo, a producer’s son who holds a grudge against Oz because of his unrequited love for Darcy. While the Bard’s original themes of ambition and greed remain intact, the film brings in the modern angle of the pressure of social media culture.

). Craig Tuohy is producing the film for Ascension Productions along with Andrew Loveday, Mike Loveday and Terry Loveday for Carnaby International. Carnaby is also handling worldwide sales.

Marquand said, “I am massively psyched to have the opportunity to be involved in adapting Othello to be set in the ambitious world of contemporary music. Working with a dynamite young cast, the film will be lurid, stylish, and bloody. It plays out as both a dark, fatalistic love story, and a psychological revenge thriller.”

The shoot is due to wrap by July 5 and is scheduled for a theatrical release in spring 2016.
