After stretching herself with ensemble film Periphery (part of the official selection at the Solothurn Film Festival and Zurich Film Festival 2016) along with another four Swiss filmmakers, young Swiss director Lisa Brühlmann will present her debut feature film, Blue My Mind, which broaches the upsets of adolescence, in the Nuev@s Director@s section of the San Sebastián Film Festival.

The Zurich-born director, who trained at the Acting School of Berlin and the ZHdK (Zürcher Hochschule der Künste), where she got a Masters in Film & Directing, previously broached the theme of adolescence with sensitivity and courage in two short films: Spring Awaking (2010) and Hylas and the Nymphs (shown in competition at the Internationale Kurzfilmtage in Winterthur in 2013).

In her debut feature, we are once again brought face to face with a girl getting to grips with the difficulties of being at that “ungrateful age” and “growing up” in a world that seems to have gone mad. A Swiss coming-of-age tale that swings between heart-felt sensitivity and teenage violence.

The main role (the intriguing Mia) is played by Luna Wedler, the young and surprising protagonist of the film Amateur Teens [+see also:

by Niklaus Hilber. Another promising actress from Amateur Teens, Zoë Pastelle Holthuizen, is also part of the adventure. Playing the role of Mia’s parents are instead Swiss actors Regula Grauwiller (who appeared in Cargo [+see also:

Blue My Mind was produced by Swiss company Tellfilm in co-production with the ZHdK (Masters piece) with support from SRF (Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen). Lisa Brühlmann also received a bursary from the Swiss Writers Association (SSA). Be for Films will handle international sales.
