25/06/2002 - Gurinder Chada´s Bend it like Beckham, the commedy who tops English box-office, prevails at Sidney Film Festival and is now to be distributed in many countries

Beckam´s fortune arrives to Australia. Bend it like Beckham, Gurinder Chada´s comedy about female soccer, has been named best European movie at the Sydney Film Festival. The producers of the winning film receive 15,000 euros, courtesy of United International Pictures.
The film, released in cinemas from 12 April, cashed 17 million euro at English box-office and is now to be distributed in many countries (Italy, France, Germany, Australia, South Africa, USA in 2003) by the next few months.
