In Germany, several buyers were interested in this intense story about a woman who is confronted with a deep moral dilemma. Torsten Frehse, the CEO of Berlin-based independent distributor Neue Visionen, has secured all the rights for Germany.

Furthermore, Beta Cinema closed deals with September Films in Benelux, Aurora Films in Poland, Feelgood Entertainment in Greece, Filmarti in Turkey, Discovery Films in the former Yugoslavia, Cirko in Hungary and Cineplex in Colombia. In addition, several acquisitions were made for Asia, such as with Swallow Wings in Taiwan, Lemon Tree Entertainment in China and JinJin Pictures in Korea. Beta Cinema is expecting to sign further contracts with distributors in France, Scandinavia and Eastern Europe.

24 Weeks was produced by Thomas Kufus’ company, Zero One Film, in co-production with ZDF/Das kleine Fernsehspiel and Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg. The lead role of the pregnant woman is played by German actress Julia Jentsch, who won the Silver Bear for Best Actress at the 2005 Berlinale.
