Five production awards have been given out by the TorinoFilmLab this year, at the end of its eighth Meeting Event. The international jury, chaired by Alberto Barbera and comprising Mexican filmmaker Paula Astorga, Argentinian producer Benjamin Domenech, French-Afghan writer-director Atiq Rahimi and Belgian director-screenwriter Fien Troch, handed out – as part of the FrameWork programme, which presented nine projects in search of co-producers – four TFL World Production Awards worth €50,000 each to Sunset by László Nemes (Hungary), A A by Jack Faber (Poland/Israel), The Heiresses [+lire aussi :

fiche film] by Marcelo Martinessi (Paraguay/Germany/Brazil/Uruguay) and Nothing Else Mattress by Bryn Chainey (Australia), as well as a production award to the tune of €70,000 to Daoud’s Winter by Koutaiba Al-Janabi (Iraq/the Netherlands/France).

A A by Jack Faber also nabbed an Audience Award (worth €30,000), voted on by all of the decision makers present at the Meeting Event, and picked from among all the FrameWork projects. The three TFL World Distribution Awards (worth €43,000) – in support of the implementation of innovative strategies for audience engagement upon the films’ release – were officially given out to the winning projects of the 2015 TFL World Distribution Fund, which took part in the Audience Design programme during the year: namely, Eva Doesn’t Sleep [+lire aussi :

fiche film] by Jonas Carpignano (Italy) obtained the ARTE International Prize (€6,000), handed out by ARTE France Cinéma to one of the Script&Pitch projects. Meanwhile, the Post-Production Award EP2C – given to a FrameWork project, which allows the producer to take part in a post-production workshop – was bestowed upon Ohna Falby, of Life to Live Films (United Kingdom), the producer of The Girl from the Estuary; the latter project, directed by Gaëlle Denis, also took home the Production Minds Award, which gives the winner the opportunity to use the online pre-production platform free of charge for six months.

Lastly, The Staffroom by Sonja Tarokic (Croatia, Script&Pitch programme) pocketed the Les Arcs Coproduction Village Prize, which consists of the automatic selection of a project for the Arc 1950 Coproduction Village, while the Digital Production Challenge II Award – a prize promoted by FOCAL Resource, which enables participation in the DPC II workshop – was handed to the Script&Pitch project Sweet Monster by Laurie Lassalle (France).
