- The leading Scandinavian market is preparing for its 27th edition, and will present new projects by Dag Johan Haugerud, Amanda Kernell, May el-Toukhy, Johannes Nyholm and Erik Poppe

The Göteborg Film Festival’s Nordic Film Market is set to return from 28-30 January for its 27th edition, showcasing over 70 films and projects that highlight the strength, diversity and international reach of contemporary Nordic cinema. Recognised as the world-leading marketplace for Nordic films, the event will once again serve as a key meeting point for the international industry, welcoming more than 600 accredited delegates from 35 countries, including buyers, distributors, sales agents, producers, festival programmers, fund representatives and other key decision-makers.
This year’s line-up comprises 19 completed Nordic market screenings, 19 works in progress and 16 films in development presented through the Discovery co-production platform. In parallel, the Nordic Gateway initiative returns with six high-potential international projects in financing, seeking Nordic co-production partners. The new projects by Dag Johan Haugerud (winner of the Berlinale Golden Bear for the third installment of his Oslo trilogy, Dreams (Sex Love) [+see also:

In 2026, the Nordic Film Market moves its main hub to Hotel Draken, which will host an expanded programme of talks, case studies, film school pitches and industry sessions. Among the highlights of the programme is an exclusive on-stage conversation with Ruben Östlund, the two-time Palme d’Or-winning director and honorary president of the Göteborg Film Festival, who will offer insights into his upcoming feature The Entertainment System Is Down.
Two major awards will once again be presented during the market. The Film Finances Scandinavia Award, offering €15,000 in cash development support, will be granted to an outstanding Nordic project from the Discovery section, recognising artistic excellence and international potential. The jury comprises Thomas Rosso, programme manager at Cannes’ Critics’ Week; Emilie Szemraj, creative executive at Protagonist Pictures; and Max Malka, executive producer at Banijay Finland.
The Tint Post-Production Award, valued at 400,000 SEK (€37,200), will be awarded to a standout international project from the Nordic Gateway selection. Offered by Göteborg-based post-production company Tint, the prize provides high-end post-production services aimed at supporting the artistic realisation of the selected film. The jury includes Filmfest Hamburg director Malika Rabahallah; Charades festivals manager Léonard Altmann and producer Thomas Robsahm (Nordisk Film).
