The Irish-based shoot will span several locations across the island, including areas around Dublin as well as counties Wicklow, Cork and Kerry. After completing its Irish leg, the film is set to continue shooting across mainland Europe, with confirmed sequences planned on the Greek island of Hydra.
The Riders has been adapted by David Kajganich from the acclaimed novel of the same name by Australian author Tim Winton. The story centres on an Australian man who relocates to rural Ireland after purchasing a secluded farmhouse, intending to start a new life there with his wife and young daughter. When only the daughter arrives from Australia and his wife fails to appear, the man embarks on a frantic, emotionally charged journey across Europe in an attempt to uncover what has happened to her. The narrative unfolds as a psychological and physical odyssey, tracing grief, obsession and displacement across borders.
Joining Pitt in the cast are Julianne Nicholson (Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, Monos [+see also:

The project is being produced by Scott Free (USA), Berger’s Nine Hours (Germany) and Plan B Entertainment (USA), the latter founded by Pitt, alongside Kajganich himself. A24 is financing the film and handling worldwide distribution, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to auteur-driven, star-led projects positioned for both theatrical and awards circuits.
The release date is yet to be disclosed.
