Shooting on Sergio Rubini’s new movie kicked off in Rome on 16 October and is ongoing, but it was only yesterday that the title, cast and synopsis were revealed. L’uomo giusto is a thriller and, to keep people guessing until the film’s theatrical release, the Apulian director, screenwriter and actor has opted for a locked-down set. Not even the actors or crew know what the real ending will be: Rubini will shoot several versions to maintain the mystery right up to the very last take. As such, the plot revealed by the production team only provides a basic outline of the story.

this year). To help her old friend, Greta invites him to stay for a while in their attic apartment, but the atmosphere at home proves tense and ambiguous: Rivoli is being hounded by someone from his past who’s making threats. Driven by a sense of gratitude and justice, Bernie tries to help the couple but ends up caught in a spiral of secrets and twists which call his values and his very existence into question. The three leads are joined by Fausto Russo Alesi, Valentina Cervi and Rubini himself. Jacopo Dragonetti, Yasemin Sannino, Alberto Molinari and Gioele Dix also star in the cast.

L’uomo giusto is written by Carla Cavalluzzi, Angelo Pasquini and by Rubini himself, marking the fifteenth feature in a career which began with La stazione in 1990, a breakthrough debut film honoured in Venice Critics’ Week, as well as at the David di Donatello and Nastri d’Argento Awards. Rubini’s most recent directorial effort was the TV miniseries Leopardi - Il poeta dell'infinito, screened out of competition in the 2024 Venice Film Festival. In 2021, he presented the movie I fratelli De Filippo [+lee también:

in competition in Rome Film Fest.

Cinematography on L’uomo giusto comes courtesy of Fabio Zamarion, editing is by Giogiò Franchini, who’s now on his fifth collaboration with Rubini, production design is by Paola Comencini, who previously worked on I fratelli De Filippo, and costumes are by Patrizia Chericoni, who’s been by Rubini’s side for over twenty years.

L’uomo giusto is being produced by Roberto Proia for Eagle Pictures, fresh off the domestic box-office success of The Boy with Pink Pants [+lee también:
